El Nutri Taco #2

El Nutri Taco is a cute little taco cart located on Woodstock and 84th. For those not from Portland, that translates to: REALLY far out there. Especially for bus-happy little vegans.
This taco cart is parked outside a house and while it offers a full omni-menu, it also has a completely separate vegan menu featuring Follow Your Heart cheese and mayo, Tofutti sour cream, and Earth Balance.

Look how unassuming it looks:

I went here once, and while it was adequately priced and tasty enough, I didn’t see myself traveling out past the questionable ladies of the night and drug houses of 82nd.
But then the glory happened. El Nutri opened a second cart—El Nutri #2—on 19th and Alberta a few weeks ago. For those who would like a point of reference, that’s exactly 3 blocks away from Back to Eden, where I spend a fair amount of my time. Hurrah!
I tried the Alberta location recently, and me-oh-my—I ate the whole thing. A huge ol’ 18 lb burrito. What can I say? I think I’m seriously addicted to anything wrapped in a tortilla.
Potatoes Burrito: potatoes, black beans, rice, vegan cheese, vegan sour cream, lettuce, grilled onions all wrapped into a whole wheat tortilla. $6.
I subbed out the rice for avocado, because as everyone knows, avocados are the bees knees.

It was delectable—just the right amount of sauce and beans, with crunchy lettuce and soft grilled potatoes. I could have done without the onions, actually (maybe next time I’ll sub corn for the onions?). I smothered hot sauce all over 1/2 the thing, and wrapped the other half up for later.
Yeah, right. About 10 minutes later, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so greedily shoved the rest of it in my mouth. I’m truly a lady.
I pictured myself looking like this:

But I’m pretty sure I actually looked like this:

I think next on my to-try list is their taco selection: soyrizo, potato, tofu or avocado taco for $1.75.

It's only 7:30 a.m. and now I want a giant burrito! I think I'm going to have to try the 84th location, since it's not that far from where I am, and I cherish the challenges presented by fending off crackheads in pursuit of tasty tortillas. :)
